Hello Friends, As many of you know, our store front is closing but our "Designs by Lavender Lime" will continue. We have several books and patterns available and are beginning to work on new patterns. Please check back as we are in the process of updating our website, facebook and this blog to reflect our Design business and close out our store front. I guess life is full of changes. We are excited for the extra time to focus on our designs but will miss our shop and our great friends. Please continue to follow us as we continue on with "Designs by Lavender Lime".

Silent Auction to Benefit Austin Hatcher Foundation

We have 5 beautiful quilts on display at the shop that we are auctioning off with all proceeds to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation- Hatch's House. Hatch's House is a pediatric cancer support center in Chattanooga and provides valuable services to families of children suffering with pediatric cancer. Come to the shop October 1-23 and place a bid on a quilt. The winning bid will receive the quilt and all money from auction will go to Hatch's House.

Special thanks to the "Heartland Quilters" and "The Nimble Thimble Quilters" of Alabama for having us out for a book signing and a couple of lectures. We had a great time. I am glad to report quilting is beautiful in Alabama and so are the quilters! They even had their buffet decorated in Lavender and Lime. Thanks, Ladies!

New Project

Now typically I am not a fan of repurposing anything. I have always held the belief "Why redo something when you can throw away and buy new? However, since our earth seems to have lots of throw aways already I am trying to do better. This sad chair came to me from my buddy, Christy. The poor thing did not even have a cushion. I needed a little chair to go in the corner of my kitchen, so I thought I would see what I could do. A little furniture polish, some beautiful fabric, my BERNINA Sewing Machine and a hammer and I have a new chair for my kitchen. But by the way, alway be careful what you are hitting with the hammer.

Hatch's Sew In

We had a great turn out at our sew in for Hatch's House, a pediatric cancer support center in Chattanooga. Here is Hatch's Mom along with her 2 beautiful girls and Pat who does so much for the foundation. Connie Stockinger brought us lunch from her business, Blimpies in Red Bank. We sew, eat, laugh and make quilts for this wonderful organization. Below is a beautiful quilt donated by Mary S. Join us on the 3rd Friday and help! PS- Mark is here if you have a machine emergency while sewing!!!

Houston Quilt Market 2009

International Quilt Market in Houston was a great success. You can see how the floor looks to begin with. We have a picture of our booth. Stephanie from Camelot Cottons has our book for sale in her booth and we use her fabrics in some of our quilts in our books. Pictured also is Becca, our Moda rep in the Moda booth. She has recently moved to Chattanooga, Welcome, Becca. Michele is hard at work in our booth and we have a couple of pictures of quilts from our books hanging in our distributors booths.

Better Homes and Gardens

We just received the copy on the article that will appear in "Better Homes and Gardens, Shop Sampler Magazine". We were thrilled to be chosen as a "Top Ten Shop". The magazine will be out in September and the article is so nice. We had such a fun time when the staff from the magazine was here. Pictured is Andy, the photographer and his assistant, Larry and Nancy the Design Director. We will soon have available kits for the quilt that we made for the magazine.

What an honor to receive the Top Shop Award from Jennifer Keltner, Editor of American Patchwork and Quilting. Pictured is our quilt that will be featured in the magazine. I designed and pieced the quilt and Sherry quilted it. The quilt is called "River Dance" and we will have kits available. Let us know if you would like to pre-order a kit or the magazine.
